We have developed a comprehensive reimbursement program for affected current and former vehicle owners to cover the additional fuel costs associated with the MPG rating changes. If you are eligible and follow the process described here, you will receive a Kia Visa® Prepaid Card that will reimburse you for the difference in the EPA combined fuel economy rating, based on the fuel price in your region and your actual miles driven. In addition, recognizing the inconvenience this may cause, we will add an extra 15-percent premium to your reimbursement amount.
If you’re a current owner, it’s important to note that reimbursement will be available for as long as you own your vehicle. Prior owners of affected vehicles who have already sold their cars will also be reimbursed using the same formula.
To take advantage of this reimbursement program, please visit our Reimbursement Estimator to see if your vehicle is affected and qualifies, and to estimate your potential compensation.
Kia Motors has also announced that it has entered into a preliminary settlement agreement with current and former owners and lessees of affected vehicles. If that agreement is approved by the Court, lump sum payment options will be provided as an additional option to Kia’s original lifetime reimbursement program. Payment amounts will vary by type of vehicle, and will be reduced for any amounts already received through the original reimbursement program. Again, this is a preliminary settlement agreement only and the Court in charge of this matter must still decide whether to approve this settlement.
Our goal is to make this process as easy and convenient as possible. Meanwhile, please know that we are committed as ever to reducing the fuel consumption and emissions of our vehicles in order to provide greater value and efficiency for you, the owner.
